Inner European?

So my attempt at dressing up as the red-haired Fifth element lady failed terribly, as my distinctively Asian features severely clashed with an orange wig. But it's still fun to do this test that both my German sister and my boyfriend took, and little wonder that I got the same result as Alex. I bet if I answered that I liked drinking more, I'd be Nick's inner Irish instead.

Your Inner European is Italian!

Passionate and colorful.

You show the world what culture really is.

Floating Destiny

The only original idea from Forest Gump, that humans fate is both destined and floating, has manifested itself around me a lot recently.

First of all, one of my friends googled the word "fling", because, she actually found herself having one, and saw that a fling is what you do on the side, while looking for the one whom you are destined to meet.

Then, our kitten Moby stepped across my computer today, and managed to hit Ctrl + Alt + Down Arrow, and turned my screen upside down. I wasn't sure what happened at first, and had to take my laptop to some techie expert to get it fixed.

And now, after worrying about law school letters, thesis, and an internship for so long, I finally have some answers. Of course, not all of them are good ones, but it's good to know that having tried one's best while "floating", your eventually realized destiny is one that you had effected.

Yay!

An acceptance e-mail came from BU today. I am elated. Called dad (who was asleep) and Nick (who was taking a dump) and ran downstairs to get a hug from Li'er.

I checked out US news again, feeling satisfied and unsatisfied.

Anyway, thesis has reached a record 9 pages, single-spaced. Am happy with the focus now, but am stuck creating a sophisticated model for it. I wish I took mathematics instead of Poli Sci for my second major. It might actually help me with my econ better.

Zingerman's and friends

Just came back from Zingerman's with the roommates + Nick and Jason. Lots of fun. Stole big bites out of a very yummy corned beef + liver sandwich, ordered a big fat New York Cheese cake better than the cheese cake I had in NYC's Stage Deli, had really good coffee (Breve), and Hummus platter. Mmmmmmm. Much happier and ready to do more work tonight.

Break

Took a break from studying, and went to see a Wayang performance with friends in the Hill Auditorium. Ben was performing, so that was enough reason to go :)

The show made me realize how boring pure arts can get, if 1. you don't understand it and/or 2. the performers, mostly undergraduates, do a poor rendition of it.

It was a combination of both that I experienced, as I watched the tradition Javanese puppetry performance. At one point, I fell asleep, only to be woken up by a Michigan fight song - in the middle of Mahabrata? Even for someone who appreciates an infusion of modern element in ancient art forms (so that I'd understand it better and stay awake), that was too much.

Numbers o numbers

Thesis - 2 pages
Law school results received - 2/12
Internship offers - 0

Despite this, Simster managed to talk some sense into me yesterday, and got me to believe that I should stick to my path even though difficulties (small ones, relatively) have presented themselves in the very beginning.

I am trying really hard not to get bummed out and discouraged. But the feelings keep creeping up to me.

Pink Clouds in the Sky

Right before work today, I nearly turned my apartment upside down trying to find my contact lense case. I clearly remembered putting the case between the bathroom sinks, but it was no where in sight. Then Moby, the obviosu culprit, came strolling into the bathroom, swaggering his long, furry gray tail that marks the size of the big, full-grown cat which he will one day become. I ran downstairs, checking under all the couches and shoes, where he tends to hide his treasures. Found two old contact lense cases, medicine bottles, cat toys, and much more. Anyway, after moving all the big couches around and being very late for work, I finally saw the case lying innocently behind the toilet upstairs. I grabbed it and ran out of the apartment. He's not getting his lunch from me as a punishment. There's a vague hope in my mind that this will deter him from hiding my things again.
